You will be asked to lie on a narrow, motorized table that will travel through an opening into a tunnel. Straps and pillows might be used to keep you in place. The technologist will be in a separate room but can see and hear you. Communicating with the technologist will be possible. You’ll be asked to hold your breath at certain points to get a good-quality image. Once the procedure is done you can return to your daily routine.
The CT images will be stored as electronic data files and they are reviewed on a computer screen. The final images will be interpreted by a radiologist and then a report will be sent to your doctor.
