He has engineered significant paradigm shifts in prominent companies with future-defining effect, across diverse sectors spanning Telecom, Media, Entertainment, Financial services, Infrastructure – and now Healthcare. One of the keenest financial minds in India, Mr Ghosal has reshaped numerous organisations, fast-tracking their growth trajectory with novel turnaround strategies, corporate restructuring, fundraising, and public equity offerings.

From diversifying Amar Ujala Group into healthcare, to leading the march of Ujala Cygnus with its unique model of ‘affordable services’ into tier II & tier III cities of India, Mr Ghosal’s unique business model has already set Ujala Cygnus on the path to being a leader in the Healthcare space of North Indian heartland. It is a path now strengthened with General Atlantic (GA) as investors, and with the promise of a new era of social equity and healthcare accessibility in under-served regions of North India – now made viable.

Dr. Shuchin Bajaj

Founder-Director, Ujala Cygnus Hospitals

A doctor by training, a man of of many parts, and a healthcare entrepreneur with indefatigable energy and belief, Dr Shuchin Bajaj, as Founder Director, has been instrumental in the entire journey of Ujala Cygnus from its inception and from its very first avatar as Cygnus Medicare and Altius healthcare. 

Driven by the missionary zeal of providing ‘equitable health care access’, Dr Bajaj stepped out of the safety of a promising career as a doctor, soon after completing his MD in internal medicine. He embarked on his entrepreneurial venture of trying to provide the highest quality of healthcare to all communities, regardless of their financial, social or geographical status – urged on by personal stories of friends and family who bore the brunt of living in healthcare-dark zones of India. 

An alumnus of INSEAD, King’s College, London, IIM Calcutta, Boston University and PGIMS Rohtak, Dr Bajaj continues to serve the cause through Ujala Cygnus, and through working across the healthcare ecosystem, revitalising it beyond the well-provided Metro regions.   

He is on the board of a number of prominent national NGOs as Advisor-Health Programmes and has played an active part in the Healthcare Track for Xynteo’s India2022 coalition as well as being part of the Helpage International’s Regional Research Initiative on Older People’s Health as the Academic partner of the International Health Working Group.

Dr. Bajaj is also an avid Healthcare Investor and is associated with multiple Health Tech Companies as investor, Board Member and mentor. He also sits on the TBIU Board of The Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) at IIT, Delhi.

Shantanu Rastogi

Operating from the vibrant financial hub of Mumbai, Shantanu Rastogi assumes the role of Managing Director at General Atlantic, steering the firm’s operations across India & Southeast Asia. With an illustrious career trajectory spanning General Atlantic, Apax Partners, and McKinsey & Company, Shantanu brings a multifaceted perspective to his leadership. His diverse and eclectic educational background, spanning Engineering, Nano-technology (IIT) and Management (The Wharton School) stands him in good stead in this endeavour.

Shantanu is deeply engaged in community projects, serving on various boards and foundations aimed at fostering innovation and sustainable development.

Varun Talukdar

Situated in Mumbai, Varun Talukdar assumes the role of Principal at General Atlantic, concentrating on the firm’s investments across the India & Asia-Pacific region. With a rich background in finance and investment management, Varun’s journey includes pivotal roles at Premji Invest, Lehman Brothers Bankruptcy Estate, Bayside Capital, and Bank of America. His expertise spans various sectors, with a particular focus on retail & consumer, education, and credit investments.

Ruchi Seth

Based in Mumbai, Ruchi Seth serves as Vice President at General Atlantic, spearheading the firm’s investment initiatives across India & Southeast Asia. With a wealth of experience in finance and investment banking, she brings a strategic edge honed through her tenure at L Catterton and Avendus Capital.
Ruchi holds an MBA in Finance from the Indian Institute of Management.

Tanmay Maheshwari, Co-Promoter and Whole-time Director at Amar Ujala, brings a dynamic vision to the forefront of the Indian newspaper industry, infusing innovation into his leadership role. As a Co-Founder and Partner at Sigurd Ventures, he leverages his diverse experience, including his tenure with the media and marketing services arm of Group M, to drive strategic growth and development. Tanmay’s multifaceted expertise, positioning him as a pivotal figure in shaping the future landscape of media and communications.
