Moradabad, April 12th, 2022: A team of critical care specialists at Ujala Cygnus Brightstar Hospital, Moradabad has given a new lease of life to a severely blood-loss patient, who met a sharp cut glass injury over the left hand and needed immediate medical aid. Dr Javed, Head of Critical Care, and Surgeons Dr Maninder Kaur and Dr Ikrar Ali from Ujala Cygnus Brightstar Hospital and their highly efficient group of doctors immediately examined the patient and found out that the patient is in emergency condition in which severe blood loss has made the heart unable to pump enough blood to the body. His GCS (Glasgow Coma Scale), the extent of impaired consciousness due to some trauma, was less than nine.
The patient, Mr. Akash Kumar, had come to emergency on 02:50 am on March 3, 2021 from Kashipur, 53.6 kilometer far from Moradabad, with the sharp glass cut injury over the left hand. He suffered major blood loss (major vessels, artery and vein injury). Patient was revived from his unconscious state with the help of intravenous fluids (IV fluids), intubated and was kept on mechanical ventilation support.
“Mr Akash came to our hospital in a very bad condition. Generally, the chances of survival of such patients are high if they reach the hospital within 1 hour of the injury. Since he couldn’t reach within the golden hour, it was quite a critical case. We took the patient immediately to OT for surgical repairs at around 04:30 AM after doing the initial medical screening. Medical team comprising of Critical Care Specialist (Dr Javed) and Surgeons (Dr Maninder Kaur and Dr Ikrar) immediately examined the patient. Patient had also received 4 unit of blood with 2 units of plasma. Patient came out of OT after 5 hours of procedure and kept on mechanical ventilation support till the next day. Meanwhile, 2 more units of blood were transfused and the patient was extubated by 4 PM uneventfully. said Dr Javed, Head of Critical Care, Ujala Cygnus Brightstar Hospital, Moradabad.
Anastomosis was preserved successfully which led to the correct movement of hand and blood circulation. Just in a day, the patient recovered from his condition and he was all set for the discharge.
