Welcoming a newborn is a moment of immense joy, but for the family of  Afsaroon’s baby, his immediate post-birth hours brought unexpected critical complications. Born in Kairana, Uttar Pradesh, the baby required emergency, high-level pediatric care right after birth. He was rushed to Ujala Cygnus Maharaja Aggarsain Hospital in Panipat and admitted directly into the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) under Dr. Shashank Bansal in a severe, life-threatening condition.

Critical Condition at Admission

Associated Complications: The baby was also suffering from neonatal jaundice and low red blood cell counts (anemia).

The Medical Intervention & Step-by-Step Recovery

The specialised NICU medical team initiated a comprehensive, multidisciplinary treatment strategy to stabilise the baby. Over 12 days, round-the-clock monitoring and targeted therapies were administered:

Advanced Respiratory Support:

The newborn was immediately placed on continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) therapy to support hibreathing. Initially requiring a higher oxygen concentration ( 40%), his lung function was monitored closely until he could be gradually weaned off the machine down to room air ( 21%).

Additional targeted medications (including Pantoprazole, Emeset, Vitamin K, and Dulcolax) were provided alongside continuous monitoring of vital signs, daily weight, urine output, and bowel movements.

Respiratory Recovery: By August 19, breathing distress resolved, chest retractions ceased, and the baby successfully transitioned to breathing natural room air while maintaining healthy oxygen saturation levels ( 94%).

Digestive System Restoration: Abdominal swelling cleared completely, normal bowel movements resumed, and the baby began tolerating oral feeds without complications.

Overall Stabilization: Skin color normalized as jaundice and anemia resolved, while muscle tone, physical activity, and crying became strong and normal.

By August 20, 2026, Afsaroon’s newborn baby had made a full clinical recovery. He was active, feeding well orally, and breathing comfortably in the room air.
