Dr. Bilal Ahmad Mir

Dr. Bilal Ahmad Mir is a highly accomplished Consultant Gastroenterologist, Hepatologist, and Therapeutic Endoscopist with over a decade of academic and clinical experience in diagnosing and treating disorders of the digestive system, liver, pancreas, and bile ducts. He completed his MBBS, MD in Internal Medicine, DM in Gastroenterology & Hepatology, and further advanced his expertise through a Post-DM Fellowship in Advanced GI Endoscopy. He has also successfully cleared the prestigious MRCP (UK) Specialty Certificate Examination (SCE) in Gastroenterology & Hepatology (2026) with a Grade A score, reflecting his commitment to international standards of clinical excellence.

Dr. Mir is widely recognised for his outstanding academic achievements and research contributions. He has received several prestigious national awards, including the Best Interactive DM Award (First Prize) at the Gastroenterology Young Masters (GYM 2023) organised by the Indian Society of Gastroenterology (ISG), the Best DM Research Thesis Award at ISGCON 2023, Bengaluru, and the Young Investigator Award at the INASL Annual Meeting. He is the lead author of the SVIN Trial and has published research in internationally renowned medical journals, including The New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM), The Lancet, American Journal of Gastroenterology, Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Journal of Clinical Gastroenterology, Journal of Clinical and Experimental Hepatology, and the Indian Journal of Gastroenterology.

His areas of special clinical interest include fatty liver disease (MASLD/MASH), liver cirrhosis, inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), pancreatic and hepatobiliary disorders, and advanced therapeutic GI endoscopy. He has also completed specialised training through the EASL–ESPEN Course on Nutrition in Liver Disease, strengthening his expertise in evidence-based nutritional management, sarcopenia, frailty, and lifestyle interventions for patients with chronic liver disease. In addition, he has earned certification in Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare from Johns Hopkins University (USA) and ICTRD India, reflecting his interest in integrating innovative technologies into modern patient care.

Dr. Mir is an active member of the global gastroenterology community, holding international memberships with the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) and the World Endoscopy Organization (WEO), along with lifetime memberships of the World Gastroenterology Organisation (WGO), Indian Society of Gastroenterology (ISG), Indian National Association for Study of the Liver (INASL), Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of India (SGEI), Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of India (CCFI), and the Enteral Foundation of India (EFI).
